There is beautiful artificial lake formed behind Lar Dam closed to Mount Damavand called
Lar Lake , which is well known in the world for its natural poppy fields (tulip , Farsi name gol shaghayegh , gol shaqayeq , gol laleh , correct name gol khashkhash ) and its exclusive red dotted trout fish. This area is preserved and fishing is allowed with the permit for only 2 months a year only on even days . Because of its neighborhood to this huge volcano it has a cool and pleasant climate as well as its beautiful landscapes. The Lar lake is a suitable place for water sports such as swimming , fishing , also one of the best area for Hiking & Trekking in Iran.
