Damavand Camp - Camp III Shelter

Camp III, also known as Bargah Sevom, is the final campsite on the southern route for trekking Mount Damavand, Iran. At this campsite, there is an Old Shelter (Refuge), a New Hut, couple of Igloos and several flat areas suitable for tenting and camping. The Damavand New Hut, built in 2009 by the Iran Mountain Federation, offers a range of services to climbers. As a result, the Bargah Old Shelter/Refuge has seen a decline in popularity compared to the Hut.

The Old Shelter at this site holds historical significance as the oldest Damavand camp. However, its popularity has waned over the years, especially during the summer when it becomes overcrowded and less comfortable for climbers. Despite these challenges, Bargah Sevom remains a vital stop for mountaineers. Climbers are advised to bring their own tents for a more private and comfortable stay, as the Old Shelter's limited space can be an issue during peak climbing seasons.

During the Damavand summer hiking and trekking season the Bargah Sevom campsite provides limited amenities, including basic food, water, and rental options for tents. This makes it a practical stop for those who prefer to bring their own gear for added convenience. As the last campsite on the southern route, it serves as a crucial staging ground for the final ascent to the summit. About Bargah Sevom Old Shelter

The Old Refuge is the oldest camp on Mount Damavand. However, camp III can be overly crowded during the summer months, making it less suitable for comfortable use. Ascending and Descending Tips for the Damavand South Route

When climbing Mount Damavand from the south side, you need to know about the two main ridges: Loumer Ridge on the left and South Ridge on the right. These ridges run parallel but meet around 5000 meters near the Damavand Icefall. As you climb up the South Ridge towards the summit, turn left onto the Loumer Ridge at about 5000 meters to reach the top.

For descending, there is a recommended path called the "Shen Ski" or scree trail, which is between these two ridges. This trail is great for a smooth and easy descent and even for skiing downhill.
