Ahmad Reza Asadi , from Savad Kouh Mazandaran , at the age of only 9 managed to climb to camp3 Mt Damavand 4220m, on 10 Aug 2008 Congratulation to to Ahmad and his family.

Hosain Mirzaei is the youngest climber who has managed to climb Damavand ,he was born 17 July 1996 , climbed Damavand 20 July 2008 .Congratulation to to Hosain new record holder for youngest climb to Mount Damavand .

There could be a good news for foreign climbers, the Iranian Mountain Climbing Federation is going to decrease the mount damavand permission fee for each foreign climber from 50 USD to 30 USD in 2008 , so if you plan to visit damavand south route during summer remember to claim your discount when you are requested to pay it at base camp or bargah sevom camp..

Despite we have experienced the coldest weather and the most snow fall in last 50 years this winter, the spring has started very warm and the warm weather lasted for few weeks , changing damavand face to look like a summer view. This strange phenomenon has caused most of mount damavand snow to melt down, and most of footpaths are free of snow now , making damavand climb simple for climbers about one mounth earlier than usual , this is a good news for climbers and of course a bad news for those who plan to ski on mount damavand .

Coldest Place in Iran and Middle East is damavand
The mount damavand summit can be regarded as the coldest place in Iran and Middle East, this winter (Dec2007 - Jan 2008) the temprature dropped as low as -76C according to Snow-Forcast . This winter we also experienced the coldest weather and most snow fall in last 50 years . So if possible , I recommend that you consider your climbs in summer.
